Whatever the actual reasoning behind the individuals that do it, reckless driving is the bane of the country today. Every year thousands and thousands of innocent people die on our roads because some idiot wants to put on a show to his mates. There are usually other reasons as well, and we will discuss a few of them in this article.
Reckless driving is the next step up from careless driving and carries with it several penalties which are often attached to convictions. Thousands of people have been taken by a momentary lapse of sanity and as a consequence have been banned from driving for life because of something stupid they did when they were young.
There are different types of punishment are applied for reckless driving depending on what state you are in, however they are all quite serious.
The most common reasons for reckless driving are:
Alcohol ” As expected the top reason for reckless driving happens to be being under the influence of alcohol while driving and the fines for this offense are much more severe ” as there are two problems here ” of reckless driving, and of driving under the influence of alcohol. The false high alcohol gives causes a burst of adrenaline and that shows off on the road!
Peer Pressure ” While driving with a group, it is very common to be goaded on by friends to speed up, or to overtake a particular speeding vehicle, and the result is reckless driving. For a conviction there need not be an actual accident. Just driving recklessly and being seen (or recorded) is quite sufficient!
Drugs ” No real need to explain this one is there?
Road Rage ” This is a more modern cause of reckless driving and the most common reason for people getting angry on the road is seeing other people driving badly, and so this seems to inspire people to drive badly themselves!
These are not an exhaustive list of reasons, but you get a hang of things, dont you? Whatever the reason, reckless driving is simply unacceptable, and it is up to us as citizens to take a strong stand against it.
